Our team

The EHS team is publicly recognised as a top tier, market leading practice which helps many of the world’s leading organisations through difficult times. Whether responding to a crisis as it emerges, dealing with regulators on site or representing duty holders in Coroner’s Courts, Magistrates Courts, Crown Courts and the Court of Appeal, we have it covered.

Over the last decade we have developed a number of compliance products, deep diving system integrity issues and building robust EHS management systems for clients around the world. We conduct due diligence for our clients when they buy and sell companies, offer advice on product safety, import and export situations and, increasingly in the ESG space.

The work is fast paced, interesting and with a real human dimension.

Role and key responsibilities


We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our EHS team as a legal assistant.

The successful candidate will provide general support to the lawyers and Partners within the team, with some of the key responsibilities detailed below:

  • Attending meetings site visits and hearings to take notes
  • Collating information and uploading to our document management platforms
  • Providing basic marketing support to clients, lawyers and fee earners, arranging client events and marketing collateral and creating supporting PowerPoint presentations
  • Taking the lead on team finances, assisting on credit control and debt management, supporting the fee earners with accurate client billing and budget
  • Diary management and booking travel for team members
  • Organise summary documents and collate information for reporting purposes
  • Research and ongoing CPD management for the team
  • Attending centrally organised external training and disseminating notes to the EHS team
  • Preparing court bundles
  • Drafting witness statements and chronologies
  • Opening and closing files
  • Co-ordinating and managing compliance projects, collating data from the global Eversheds Sutherland network
  • Proof reading/cross referencing documentation

Skills and experience

We are looking for:

  • A team player who is ambitious with a desire to progress
  • Proficient on Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Hungry to learn
  • Degree educated
  • Previous legal experience (legal role) desirable
  • Prepared to travel around the UK, including some overnight stays when clients require (the team work in courts, tribunals and client sites around the country).
