Job Description

 

The main purpose of this appointment is to provide data and financial analysis support to the Commercial Finance Managers in the Clients and Sectors team, to facilitate internal analysis on clients and sectors together with external client reporting. The reports and analysis generated will be delivered to the firms most senior stakeholders and clients so a keen eye for detail is required. The ability to work at a fast pace is therefore imperative, to ensure accuracy and meet tight reporting deadlines.

 

Key responsibilities

 

As part of the wider finance team you will be responsible for but not limited to:

 

  • Analytical support for the Commercial Finance Managers within the clients and sectors team and the wider Commercial Finance Team.
  • Analysis and forecasting – using available information to identify reasons for profitability and poor account performance and make recommendations based on this information to drive profitability of these accounts.
  • Complete a large number of monthly reports within timescales agreed to a high level of accuracy.
  • Make suggestions on how reports can be improved or automated, working with other analysts to make those improvements.
  • Undertake detailed and complex client reporting, working closely with the marketing team to get all the information with a focus on accuracy within tight deadlines.
  • Provide weekly reporting for some sectors and clients.
  • Work with the pricing team to provide client information or undertake pricing models for certain areas of clients.
  • Respond to questions and provide ad-hoc financial analysis when required. This could be for Client Partners or senior members of the finance and marketing teams.
  • Provide international reporting by collating and combining data from other countries in different currencies.
  • Attend some monthly/quarterly review meetings with the client partner to gain information or talk through specific areas of the client.
  • Draft commentary on client or sector performance as requested.
  • Ensure mandatory training is completed within timescales.

 

Skills and experience

 

  • The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification (2:1 or above) but more importantly they will have a highly disciplined and logical approach to problem solving and organisation. They will need to be able to multi-task adhering to strict deadlines.
  • If the candidate is already studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA / ACCA) or has the desire to do so then study support will be provided.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, lookups and problem-solving formulas is essential.
  • Close attention to detail is essential.
  • Knowledge of cube-based reporting systems beneficial.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar law firm practice management system advantageous although not necessary.
  • Knowledge of Power BI would be advantageous although not necessary.
  • Ability to work calmly to tight time deadlines and be comfortable working with senior stakeholders.
  • Good team player with the desire to support the other members within the team.
  • Ability to juggle incoming ad hoc requests for client and sector related information.
  • Successful candidate will be ambitious, client-focused and keen to learn.
