The Team

 

This role is integral to meeting the firm’s UK partnership, corporate & VAT obligations and providing support to the wider Partner Services & Tax team on strategic projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Partnership/Corporate Tax
  • Key point of contact in tax team for wider finance and accounting teams
  • Working with Senior Partnership Tax Manager to manage the preparation of UK partnership & corporate tax computations
  • Reviewing Partnership Tax Assistant’s computational work
  • Arrange other ad hoc UK tax filings
  • Arrange quarterly corporation tax payments
    • VAT
  • Manage the preparation and submission of group VAT returns
  • Assist with the VAT leger reconciliations
  • Dealing with audit & HMRC/tax authority VAT queries
  • Providing support to the business with VAT queries, including complex billing scenarios
    • R&D
  • Working with external R&D advisors and in-house IT/Finance teams to prepare the firm’s annual R&D tax credit claim
    • Other
  • Working with Senior Partnership Tax Manager to calculate & manage partners tax reserves
  • Dealing with partner queries in respect of tax reserves
  • Assistance with calculating the allocation of taxable profits to partners
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as they arise
  • Line management and active role in development of Partnership Tax Assistant

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Experience of working within a professional services background, either within an accounting practice and would like to diversify in law firms or currently working within a law firm
  • An understanding of UK tax system
  • Advanced use of excel
