Our team

We are an international practice with an enviable list of clients and transactions to our name. We regularly advise high profile clients, consisting of global financial institutions, infrastructure funds and corporates on complex domestic and cross-border transactions and are able to utilize our strong domestic and international network of specialists.

The breadth and quality of work that we undertake sets us apart from many of our competitors. Many of our partners and associates have joined the team from Magic Circle, US and similar high quality finance practices.

Role and key responsibilities

This is a great opportunity to join Eversheds Sutherlands to focus on energy & infrastructure finance on both brownfield and greenfield financings. We advise international sponsors, developers and banks in UK and international finance transactions across transport and social infrastructure, renewables and emerging/convergence assets such as battery storage and other energy transition projects. We typically work alongside our corporate, construction, disputes, regulatory, planning and real estate teams in the relevant jurisdiction or region. Our work spans all stages of the project lifecycle including bid submission, finance, construction, operation, refinancing, hand-back and repowering.

The role will involve working on a wide range of energy & infrastructure matters and, given the breadth of our practice, the candidate will need to have the ability and desire to turn their hand to a range of work across different sectors.

Team members of all levels are expected to be engaged in business development activities, including organising and attending larger set-piece marketing events as well as more ad hoc / opportunistic meetings.

The role will suit someone to whom client networking and the promotion and development of our practice, and the firm more broadly, comes naturally.

We work in a highly collaborative and non-hierarchical environment, and are motivated by delivering a great service for our clients whilst helping to develop business and provide input on training, marketing, knowledge management and other non-transactional activities.

Skills and experience

We are seeking applications from Lawyers with  a minimum of 3 years PQE and who are qualified or dual qualified to practice law in England and Wales. You will be an experienced lawyer who specialises in energy and infrastructure finance, regularly advising lenders (both commercial and DFIs), sponsors, investors, developers, borrowers and issuers in this sector

Ideally the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • good networking skills and an ability to build strong client relationships.
  • a breadth of view despite specialisation.
  • commitment to delivering quality client service.
  • initiative and an ability to take ownership
  • relationship building with colleagues within the team and across the firm
  • drive and enthusiasm for the role
  • a willingness to stay on top of legal and regulatory developments
  • an international perspective
