Our team

Our Commercial Practice Group works on headline making deals across our five workstreams - Strategic Contracts, Technology, Intellectual Property, Data Privacy and Retail Finance.

Below are some of our areas of particular strength in which you’ll have the opportunity to get involved:

  • we have vast outsourcing experience including within the multi-billion-dollar environments of AI, cloud, automation, additive manufacturing, blockchain, facilities and property management and logistics. We have worked on some of the largest outsourcing deals of the last few years with a real depth of expertise in the financial services sector.
  • we regularly advise on some of the largest supply chain contracts particularly in the aerospace and automotives sectors for some of our blue chip automotive clients.
  • our market leading rail team advises on the biggest matters both her in the UK and increasingly across the globe.
  • we advise on the commercial aspects of significant regeneration and development

Role and key responsibilities

We are actively recruiting for a Senior Associate to join our Commercial Group focusing on Strategic Contracts and Technology. The workload is very varied and we are looking for a lawyer who has worked across a variety of contract types in this area.

 As part of this role you can expect to be involved in:

  • Advising on contracts for a broad range of clients, including both traditional IT and outsourcing contracts and supply chain along with contracts for innovative and disruptive technologies.
  • Advising on technology and outsourcing related regulatory requirements, particularly in relation to the financial services sector.
  • Supporting on the commercial aspects of corporate deals.
  • Advising on data centre contracts.
  • Business development initiatives, including speaking at seminars for clients, internal training as well as client briefing papers.
  • Client facing management.

Skills and experience

You must have a good grounding in commercial and technology law. You must be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively at different levels and with clients from a variety of different cultures. You must be able to build strong relationships and enjoy business development activities. We expect you to be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the contract terms and also the key commercial and operational issues with these types of deals.

We are looking for:

  • a minimum of 5 years PQE of advising on IT, commercial and outsourcing contracts.
  • a good grounding in technology and commercial law, connected laws and regulation experience of working on multi-jurisdiction contracts for major clients an advantage
