Our team

Our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Centre of Excellence at Eversheds Sutherland is part of our International Operations group which supports the delivery of our business strategy. We are responsible for driving and delivering solutions to ensure we are a diverse and inclusive firm, and for embedding D&I activities and plans across the business.

This is an exciting time to join our business as we work to deliver our D&I action planning across a breadth of strategic focus areas, and we are very pleased to open up this opportunity for a D&I Specialist to join the team.

Role and key responsibilities

As a D&I subject matter expert, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the D&I plan, bringing your passion in this field and your specialist skills and experience in executing against the deliverables of the D&I team. Reporting to the D&I Delivery Manager, within the HR function, you will work closely with all practice groups and with colleagues from across our UK and international offices.

Being approachable and open, you will help promote a sense of team. The role will provide you with an opportunity to build your learning as a D&I Specialist within a supportive team framework and make a valued contribution to the inclusive culture within the firm.

You will be responsible for:

  • delivering actions against a yearly schedule of key events and celebrations that are firmwide
  • working closely with D&I and HR team colleagues to deliver sustained performance aligned with our D&I focus areas
  • developing a broad internal network, collaborating with the wider HR community and D&I champions across the business providing expert opinion
  • supporting in the development of toolkits and best practice guidance that can be shared across the firm to upskill all our people in D&I
  • working effectively with our people networks in their activities to drive engagement and inclusion, providing support and guidance aligned with our D&I priorities
  • working with our Communications team and supporting with high quality internal and external communication activity that is engaging, inclusive and consistent
  • coordinating actions and deliverables against external D&I benchmarking, charters and commitments
  • adopting a commercial mindset in developing effective working relationships with external vendors and partners
  • assisting with data analysis and regular D&I reporting to business stakeholders of firmwide interventions and progress against plan
  • contributing D&I insights, knowledge and innovative ideas and approaches to the work of the team
  • demonstrating an awareness of risk issues in your day-to-day activities and seeking guidance as appropriate

Skills and experience

  • Experience as a Diversity & Inclusion subject matter expert, developing and implementing targeted interventions, and measuring impact and effectiveness
  • A track record of successfully managing D&I related projects from inception to completion
  • Having a delivery focus and being highly motivated to provide excellent advice and deliver results
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful internal and/or external events
  • Able to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, colleagues at all levels and third parties
  • Proven ability to analyse diversity data, interpret results and produce high quality and succinct reporting of findings and implications
  • Evidence of developing high quality written communications with high attention to detail
  • Able to work on own and be a self-starter to get things done, and equally as part of a wider team

The following would be desirable, but are not essential:

  • Experience in the Legal Sector or within Professional Services
  • D&I experience gained internationally or working for an international business
